About us
Run by fans, for fans
A supporters' trust is a democratic, not-for-profit organisation of supporters, committed to strengthening the decision-making process at a club.
Who we are
The Iron Trust
The Iron Trust (Scunthorpe United Supporters Society) was established in April 2012, following a process that began in August 2011. Participants at an open meeting held at Glanford Park in December 2011 voted to create the Trust, and membership opened in July 2012.
The Trust is legally registered and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), and can hold assets just as a company can. We are affiliated to the Football Supporters' Association (FSA), attending its events, training and annual summits.
What we do
- Building a supporter shareholding in the Club
- Regular contact with the Club's owners and management
- Putting members' questions to Club board meetings
- Pressing for greater financial transparency
- Organising fundraising and social events
- Supporting local charities and community causes
Our objectives
What the Society exists to do
- 01
Be the democratic and representative voice of the supporters of the Club, and strengthen the bonds between the Club and the community it serves.
- 02
Achieve the greatest possible supporter and community influence in the running and ownership of the Club.
- 03
Promote responsible, constructive community engagement by members, and encourage the Club to do the same.
- 04
Operate democratically, fairly, sustainably and transparently, and be financially responsible.
- 05
Be a positive, inclusive and representative organisation, open and accessible to all supporters regardless of age, background or personal characteristics.
