Trust Chair programme notes for Leamington

Welcome once again to the Attis Arena for this afternoon’s home game v Leamington. Welcome to any travelling Brakes fans: the nickname coming from the club’s roots of being the works team of Lockheed, Borg and Beck who produced brakes for the automotive industry.

Highlights of the recent Trust board meeting held on Wednesday 26th February at the Berkeley Hotel. We have committed to purchasing a further batch of shares which will take the fans stake to £12,000 worth. We are looking to revamp our merchandise and offer new lines, and the website still requires an overall. We are going out to the Iron Trust membership first to see if any member has the right skills and desire to assist us.

As reported previously there has been a spike in new members of the Hat-trick draw; our monthly draw; which generates 3 cash prizes of £75, £25 and £10 for ten months of the year. The December and May draws are a single prize of £500. More people joining will enable us to adjust the prize monies awarded each month. Shares cost £1 each with a minimum monthly subscription of £5. The winning prizes for February were 1st 117, 2nd 162 and 3rd 92.

Many thanks to all members who voted for their player of the month for February. In 1st place was Beestin (with 50% of all votes), in 2nd place Clunan and in 3rd place Roberts. The season totals so far sees Roberts in first place; 2nd is now Beestin and 3rd is now Fitzsimmons

The 2025 AGM of the Trust was our most successful ever with a very good attendance from members, along with all four club directors and CEO Matt Roberts. The AGM is still being talked about in very positive terms as is the candid information imparted by Michelle, Roj, George and Ian.

As mid-March looms and the seasons finish in April is nearing the Trust has turned its thoughts to ‘Flag Day’. Young board member Bryn Gosling (Big Shuggy) under the watchful eye of ‘Needers’ has taken the organising lead for this event and already had discussions with Landlord Dan at the Honest Lawyer. Dan is once again keen to host this well attended annual event which will be held on Saturday 12th April straight after the Spennymoor home game as the traditional last home game is on Easter Monday. The charity we have selected to benefit this year is the Stroke unit at Scunthorpe General Hospital.

Many members and fellow supporters keep asking after Dave Bev, who is recovering from a recent illness. Dave attended the last home game even though he needs to take things easy. D ave is grateful for all the good wishes he has received.
