Trust chair programme notes for Kings lynn
Here we are on the eve of a New Year and the opportunity to wish everybody a very happy and prosperous 2025.
The Iron Trust has grown in strength over the past year with membership standing at 1033. We have purchased one of the clubs 125-year anniversary boxes to be given away via a free raffle when we either secure 125O members or the end of this season, whichever comes first.
Life membership has been held at £10 with a slight increase for overseas members to cover the extra postage. Family membership remains at £20.
Our Hat Trick draw remains good value at £1 per share with a minimum £5 per month subscription. We pay £75, £25 and £10 for ten months of the year; December and May are a single prize of £500. The more members in the scheme the greater the prize monies. The draw is registered with North Lincolnshire Council.
Trust corner is supported each week by various members of the board: mainly Mark Stockdale, John Needham, Dave Beverley and Steve Hawes. Jake Stockdale drops in each week and I assist, shifts permitting. We sell a variety of goodies as well as signing up people for Trust membership and our Hat Trick draw
Jake deserves a special mention for his dedication to the Iron cause. He has not missed a single home or away game in the last 11 years; truly remarkable given the fortunes of our club during those years. The last game Jake missed was Bournemouth away on1st April 2013. He live streamed all games during COVID, making this his 598th consecutive game. Wow!
We are regulated by the FCS (Financial Conduct Authority) and submit annual accounts. Those figures are audited by Sharon Housam whom we would like to thank wholeheartedly: Sharon gives her time for free.
The Trust also meets regularly with club officials. Over the past year we have met formally with Michelle, George and Roj, as well as bumping into Ian around the club. We have also met with Matt Roberts and receive great support from James, Glyn and all the staff at SUFC: a big thank you to all of them.
The Iron Trust board meets regularly together at the Berkeley Hotel with board members travelling from Alkborough, Barton, Eastoft, Peterborough, Pontefract and of course Scunthorpe. They do that because of their affinity with Scunthorpe United our great football club and on your behalf.
Up the Mighty Iron and a happy and prosperous New Year to all.
Tony Gosling
Chair of the Iron Trust
