Trust Chair programme notes for Darlington

Good evening to all Iron supporters and those travelling Quakers fans making the trip this evening.

Good news on the Ross Barrows football card which raised a whopping £1000 from Trust members and fellow Iron fans. The monies will be utilised on Ross’s long-term recovery. The prize went to Anna Wilkinson who correctly picked out Celtic as the winning team. Anna has won the Legends Lounge for ten people at a match of her choice courtesy of Scunthorpe United FC. Well done Anna and thank you to all those fans who bought a square.

At our AGM one of the questions asked was on the welfare of Trust member Martin Maidment the fan who suffered a nasty injury at last season’s final game v Gloucester City. At the time we had no up to date news, but I am pleased to be able to inform supporters that Martin was at the last home game v Scarborough with his son Ben. I managed to catch a few words with Martin, an old friend from when we started High Ridge Comprehensive School together in 1976, now St Lawrence’s Academy to younger members.

Our very own Vice-Chair, Dave Bev, has recently had a spell in hospital, Dave has been instrumental in selling the Trust football cards and we may have over worked him, get well soon Dave from all your friends at the Trust.

Popped along to Cafe Indie recently to watch a band called Casino: the gig also featured the Outcharms and Arkayla. Ross Fowler lead guitarist of the Outcharms is an ardent Iron fan from Winterton. The band are well worth a listen as are Casino and Arkayla. A good few Iron fans were in attendance including some having just returned from the away game at Warrington.

Trust secretary Steve (Ozzy) Hawes will be sending out the POM award voting email in the next few days so please join in as this helps forge the season’s winner.

Membership continues to grow and we now stand at 1093, 157 away from our next target of 1250 when we draw for the centenary box of goodies for one lucky winner.

The Hat-trick draw has seen a spike of new members after our concerted push. More are always welcome as it will allow us to increase the prize fund.

Up the Mighty Iron
