Trust Chair Brackley programme notes (from original postponed game)

Welcome to the Attis Arena for the first home game of 2025 v Brackley who proved stiff opposition last season.

January is a busy month for the Iron Trust with 3 events planned our board meeting, the quiz and AGM.

The Hat-trick draw for December where we offer a single prize of £500 was won by number 190, the lady winner who regularly attends home games chooses to remain anonymous. No doubt the family had Turkey instead of Spam for Christmas lunch!

The big football fun quiz is taking place at the Berkeley Hotel on Friday 24th January 7pm for a prompt 7:30pm quiz start. Teams can consist of a maximum 5 members and the entry per team is £5 per person. Teams thus far include Scunthorpe United, Iron Trust, Iron Hour Podcast, Joe S and Steve H and Winterton Iron to name a few. There will be a raffle on the night and an auction which includes a signed Gary Hooper shirt.

We also welcome any supporters who wish to come along and spectate: you can always participate in the raffle or auction or both. We will also assist people in getting into a team if they turn up on spec.

The closing date for Iron Trust board nominations was back in mid-December and we received just three nominations hence no voting is required.  Therefore, we are pleased to announce that Vice-Chair David Beverley,  Secretary Steve Hawes and Jake Stockdale are duly elected, but their nominations require formal ratification at the AGM on Wednesday 29th January where Iron CEO Matt Roberts has confirmed he will speak.

Dave Beverley and I attended Stuart Maws quiz night back in December to hand out flyers for our own event and have a go at winning the Centenary box. The Iron Trust team entry was too late as Stuart had the required maximum number of 15 teams when we applied only for one to drop out on the day. Great to see former Scunthorpe Evening Telegraph sports editor Bob Steels attend the event which brought back fond memories of the ‘night paper’ or ‘Telewag’ as it was known.

Ardent Iron fan and Trust member Dave Gardener who runs the record stall at St John’s market in Scunthorpe Town centre enquired about potential sponsorship of the Trust, but Dave did not pursue the matter as he is awaiting our website upgrade. The upstairs market has a woodcarving stall that carries SUFC carvings.

Have a great 2025 from all at the Trust

Up the Mighty Iron
