We are always happy for the Iron Trust membership to grow and ahead of the Gateshead game another Iron fan joined the Trust. Nothing unusual in that but what is unusual is that Jan Egil Mandelid is Norwegian. He lives in Norway and has been making pilgrimages to Glandford Park over many years to support the Iron.  

He turned up at Trust corner before the game to buy a Trust beanie hat (excellent value at £9!) and left with the hat and as a Trust member. 

Jan explained that this is how he plans his annual holiday, as well as Tuesdays’ game he will be at Barnet on Friday night before caching a flight back to Norway on Sunday.  

His affinity with the Iron appears to come from some admiration of Liverpool and in particular Kevin Keegan and somehow he tracked Keegan’s career to find himself supporting SUFC.  

What fantastic devotion to stick with his club and still make the journey even though we are at the wrong end of the National League.
