Highlights from the Iron Trust Board meeting held on October 2nd, 2024

The topics below are not the Minutes of the meeting as they are not formally approved until the next Trust Board meeting which is the 20th November. That’s a bit of a wait so we thought we’d publish below some general notes on the topics discussed.

Membership incentives
We now have 1,029 members. We want to entice more people to join and we will have a free draw for Trust Members once we reach 1,250 (or the end of the season, whichever comes first). The prize will be a SUFC 125 year anniversary pack. So if you haven’t joined, its £10/£20/£3 (adult/family/U16) for life and you will also be in the draw for one of these “125” beauties.
Membership communications
Our increased membership numbers is of course great. A consequence of this is that the current software tool we use for mass emails to our members needs replacing or upgrading. The current one is free but we now need one with extra capacity and unfortunately it will cost money.
To cover this cost we are looking for a business to sponsor the newsletter for the rest of the season. If you have a business you’d like to promote to around 500 readers every home game (or know someone who might be interested that we can contact) please do get in touch at Trust Corner before a home game or by email to theirontrust@gmail.com
SUFC shares
The money raised by the Trust on the SUFC Open day has allowed the Trust to purchase another £500 worth of shares on behalf of the members. The total value of the shares held by the Trust is now £10,500.
Iron Trust Webpage
Work is ongoing with the overhaul of the web site. It will have an updated appearance but as we are not replacing the software platform it uses, none of the content will be lost. This means we can populate it with up to date news and information, something we hesitated to do believing a complete new web site was going to be necessary which is now not the case.
Fundraising
We considered quite a few fundraising possibilities as well as our ongoing existing ones. Some we have actioned; others need a bit more investigation before we can announce anything and some we have parked for future consideration.
The existing ones are Easyfundraising and the Hat Trick Draw and we are working to raise the profile on these in order to increase the participants.
We have decided to run a Xmas 100 team scratch card fundraiser with one of the 125 year SUFC anniversary packs as the main prize. Dave Beverley is getting things in order and we will announce its launch in our social media channels and the Newsletters. We will sell the “teams” at Trust Corner (cash or card accepted) and we’ll also be scouting for sales here and there. Each team will only cost you £5 and you could have a quite a nice tick on you Xmas present list if you are lucky!
We are also going to run a Quiz night at the Berkeley in the beginning of 2025. More details will follow soon.
