Radcliffe programme notes from the Chair’
Welcome back to the Attis Arena for today’s game against Radcliffe FC. Our visitors were newly promoted to National North as champions of the Northern Premier League premier division last May so a warm welcome to any travelling Boro fans.
.October proved a busy month for the Iron Trust. Early in the month we held a board meeting at the Berkeley Hotel to discuss our own website and fundraising activities. PC Paul Hurrell attended to brief us on a whole range of fan related topics. The following week we attended the SAG (Safety Advisory Group) which is a body made up of representatives from Police, Fire, Ambulance, North Lincolnshire Council and SUFC officials where we represent the views of our members on issues that concern them. The main one being the use of flares on the terraces and the risk of burns.
A few days later a delegation from the Trust board attended a meeting with chair Michelle Harness. We discussed our membership of the SAG and there is a desire to establish a bi-monthly meeting between the Club and Trust. Michelle also briefed us on some key staffing changes and the creation of the CEO role. We in turn affirmed out commitment to raise funds and invest back into the club via share purchasing.
A week later it was to the fans’ forum hosted by BBC Radio Humberside at the Attis Arena, where again a Trust board delegation attended, mainly in an observer capacity.
Plans are well afoot for the Iron Trust big New Year quiz to be held at the Berkeley Hotel on Friday 25th January; the eve of the South Shields home game. Keep an eye out for more details.
A quick catch up on the Iron Trust player of the season award. August saw Alfie Beestin pick up the first award, whilst Ross Barrows walked away with the September nomination. The email contact from Secretary Steve Hawes has gone out for the October vote so members please watch out and cast your vote.
The Iron Trust was sad to learn that the SUOSC (Scunthorpe United Official Supporters Club) has been dissolved. Chair Neal Campbell had worked with us in occasions in the interests of supporters.
Up the mighty Iron
