Oxford City; Trust Chair’ Programme notes

Good afternoon for today’s match against Oxford City; the first game between our two sides and a warm welcome to any travelling Hoops fans visiting the Attis Arena.

The Iron Trust board met last Wednesday at the Berkeley Hotel with two main agenda items one being fund raising the other our own website. Steve Hawes, Jake Stockdale and Matt Ellis lead on all things IT and social media. We will endeavour to keep members updated on the outcomes. Big thank you to new ‘mine hosts’ at the Berkeley Neil and Kirsty for their hospitality.

Hat-trick draw winning numbers for August were 17, 88, and 183. Please see Stocky senior our Treasurer to pick up your winnings.

The August player of the month award was won by Alfie Beestin as voted by Iron Trust members. The September voting email went out earlier this week and closes tomorrow so please respond to the email if you haven’t already.

Please feel free to drop in at Trust corner to have a chat, buy goodies, sign up to Hat-trick draw or the Trust. At the Warrington home game Trust member Jonathon Allwood dropped by to say hello. Jon works in Basle, Switzerland for a company which converts the cabins of Boeing 747s into luxury flying palaces. Quote the Iron Trust when ordering for any potential savings!

Our very own Vice-chair Dave Beverley is often in attendance at Trust corner willing to sign autographs after being featured in the Channel 4 series Football Cops. Well known SUFC football bobby Paul Hurrell, aka Smiler, starred alongside DB. The Iron Trust is no stranger to media having featured on BBC Look North, ITV Calendar, Radio Humberside, Lincs FM, Viking FM, The Telegraph, The Guardian, The Athletic, Co-op Website to name a few.

We continue to recruit members at a steady rate as we aim for that 1250 mark and the opportunity to win a celebratory 125 year pack one of which we have purchased. It will to be won by a member via random draw on signing up the 1250th Trust member or at the end of the season.

Today the Iron Trust welcomes Irish Iron to the Attis Arena for their second visit of the season. Bernard Griffin who set up our ‘green isle’ supporters club celebrates his 60th birthday today and to mark

the occasion travels over with Mags, his wife, and several family members. Happy birthday Bernard. Of course this season is also the 30th anniversary of Irish Iron.

Up the Mighty Iron
