Iron Trust Chair’s Scarborough Programme notes
Derby day for the Iron as we welcome our old league friends from the lovely seaside resort of Scarborough to the Attis Arena. Welcome to travelling Seadogs fans who will be large in number and no doubt vocal.
As previously reported the Iron Trust had an extremely busy January, but still managed to attend the inaugural meeting of fellow Football Trusts from the East/East Midlands region. The event held at the South Kesteven Sports Stadium, home of Grantham Town FC, was attended by representatives of the Red Imps Community Trust, Mariners Trust, Foxes Trust and Northampton Supporters Trust as well as Dave Beverly, secretary Ozzy and me. The primary objective was to discuss the Football Governance Review which is being stalled in the House of Lords by friends of Premiership clubs leaving Sports Minister Stephanie Peacock MP describing them as “a loud minority seeking to derail the debate”. Our own Needers did sterling work on the Fan Led Review with the FSA and put together a submission on behalf of the Iron Trust which helped shape the final document.
Membership of the Trust continues to grow and our numbers now stand at 1080. With this being the clubs 125th year we purchased one of the 125 Centenary Celebration boxes to be given away by random draw on the signing up of our 1250th member or the end of this season, whichever comes first. If you wish to join us the cost for a life membership is £10, £20 for a family or £15 (to cover postage) overseas. Be one of the 170 to help us hit our target.
The next football card from the Iron Trust run by Dave B will be £2 per go for the chance to win one of the orange 125-year scarves. The funds raised will of course go to the purchase of further shares in our club.
Last Thursday the Iron Trust was due to attend the latest meeting of the SAG (Safety Advisory Group) chaired by the Licensing Officer of North Lincolnshire Council and attended by a range of statutory bodies Police, Fire, Ambulance as well as a good range of club officials.
Many members have noticed that our social media presence has been revamped under our resident IT and media expert Matt Ellis. Matt’s work has been instrumental in raising the profile of the Trust and providing up to date media releases. Well done and thank you Matt.
Up the Mighty Iron.
